A collective performance around the questions of attention, distraction, and micro-gestures.

A purpose is to focus on the individual as a performer of multiple acts at the same time. The challenge also lies in the common presence of several bodies united in a shared action, performed together. To allow as many actions as possible to emerge by individuals connected by a common act that guides them. To discover that a common action crosses each one, while a maximum of other actions exist individually.

Kubra Khademi

Kubra Khademi is an Afghan artist born in 1989. She is a performer and feminist. Through her practice, Kubra Khademi explores her life as a refugee and a woman. She studied fine arts at Kabul University, before joining Beaconhouse University in Lahore, Pakistan. In Lahore she began creating public performances, a practice she continued on her return to Kabul, where her work was a response to a male-dominated society with extreme patriarchal politics. After the execution of her performance known as The Armour in 2015, she was forced to flee her home country and is now a refugee in France. Paris is where she lives and works. In 2016, she received an MFA scholarship to the Pantheon and Audray Azoulay, Minister of Culture, elevated her to the rank of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. She is a member of the Atelier des Artistes en Exil and resident at the Cité internationale des arts.

THE NEXT PERFORMANCE ART GENERATION

Since several years, visual arts schools in French-Speaking Belgium dedicate part of their curriculum to live art: a response to the new dynamics of these practices in the professional field. One can see new generations of artists appearing, taking over the Belgian and international scenes of performance art, with individual or collective works, multiplying collaborations… They don’t make performance art like their elders, they invent new forms, which need new showing spaces.

Partners

A project of ENSAV-La Cambre, in partnership with erg and in corealisation with Studio Thor. Thanks to the suggestions from Le 75, ARBA/ESA (ISAC), ARTS², Beaux-Arts de Liège, Académie Beaux-Arts Tournai. With the support of KANAL – Centre Pompidou, the Wallonia-Brussels Center (Paris), FiPA-ESA (Financing of artistic projects in Higher Artistic Education schools), the Ministry of Higher Education of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation an of the Embassy of Spain in Belgium.
